What is a hackathon?

A sprint-like event where participants team up and create solutions to real-life challenges during a limited period of time. Using creativity, technology and mentoring, a hackathon results in prototypes, fresh new concepts and innovative usages of tech.

What is 5G?

According to Ericsson, 5G is the fifth generation of cellular networks, bringing new capabilities that will create opportunities for people, businesses and society. Imagine billions of connected devices gathering and sharing information in real time to reduce road accidents; or life-saving applications that can take flight thanks to lag-free guaranteed connections; or production lines so predictive that they can prevent interruptions well before they occur.

Do I need any specific skills to participate?

No, we need different types of skill, competencies and creative minds to make our countries even smarter. If you are one of the selected students, you will be placed on a team with mixed competencies from both South Korea and Sweden.

Can anyone apply to join this hackathon?

This hackathon focuses on innovation with the help of 5G for the future of South Korea and Sweden. We welcome tech or engineering students from any school in South Korea or Sweden to apply. Up to 200 students will be selected and placed into diverse teams.

Can I sign up and compete as an individual?

Everyone who applies needs to sign up individually through the ‘Sign up as a Hacker‘ button on the front page. When the organisers have gone through the application and you have been selected, you will be placed on a mixed team of both Korean and Swedish students.

Is participation free of charge?

Yes, the hackathon is free to enter.
